Enhanced Infrastructure and Operational Measures

In recent years, investments in railway infrastructure have significantly increased the number of special trains and expanded track construction from 400–600 km per year a decade ago to over 4,000 km annually today. Railway staff are working round-the-clock to ensure smooth operations and passenger safety during the festive rush, especially amid the ongoing Chhath Puja.
At key stations like Patna, Danapur, and Rajendra Nagar Terminal, dedicated holding areas, extra ticket counters, CCTV surveillance, and essential amenities have been set up. Ambulances and medical teams remain on standby 24×7 to handle emergencies, ensuring passengers travel safely and comfortably.
Special Trains and Unique Festive Initiatives
Indian Railways has introduced a special Vande Bharat Express running between New Delhi and Patna for the Chhath festival. The train featured traditional Chhath melodies, enhancing the festive experience for passengers. Currently, 156 Vande Bharat Express services operate across India, with this special service adding to the regular network.
Passengers have praised the increased number of special trains, clean coaches, timely services, and well-maintained stations. Several travelers highlighted smooth ticketing, functional toilets, and availability of food and bedding as significant improvements compared to previous years.
Passenger Feedback and Experience
Many passengers expressed appreciation for Indian Railways’ efforts to maintain cleanliness and ensure smooth journeys. Travelers at Jamalpur Railway Station noted the lack of crowding and efficient management. Others appreciated the spiritual atmosphere created by playing Chhath-related songs at stations, adding to the overall festive vibe.
Families traveling from Delhi reported receiving confirmed tickets without any hassle and praised the timely operations and friendly assistance from railway staff. These proactive measures reflect the organisation’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience during peak travel periods.
