10,000 Grassroots Heroes to Attend 77th Republic Day Parade

RR Team, January 19, 2026January 19, 2026
In a strong reflection of India’s commitment to inclusive nation-building and public participation, the Government of India has invited approximately 10,000 special guests to witness the 77th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi on January 26, 2026.

The initiative aims to honour grassroots contributors and enhance Jan Bhagidari in national celebrations. According to the Ministry of Defence, the invited guests along with their spouses represent a diverse cross-section of society, including farmers, scientists, innovators, women entrepreneurs, artisans, start-up founders, social workers, students, and frontline workers who have made exemplary contributions to India’s development journey.

Honouring Grassroots Nation Builders

The special invitees include farmers practising natural farming and beneficiaries of key agricultural schemes such as the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) that have shown outstanding performance have also been recognised.

Women producer groups supported under PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, women artisans trained under Mahila Coir Yojana, and Lakhpati Didi beneficiaries under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) form a significant part of the guest list, underscoring the focus on women-led development.

Innovation, Science and Youth at the Forefront

India’s innovation ecosystem will be strongly represented, with invitations extended to top-performing start-ups and MSMEs under initiatives such as Semicon India Programme, Bio E3 Policy, and the Self Reliant India (SRI) Fund.

Scientists and technical experts from organisations such as ISRO, DRDO,
and participants in missions like Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan, and the Deep Ocean Mission will attend the parade, celebrating India’s growing scientific and technological prowess.

Students trained under Atal Tinkering Laboratories, winners of international sports tournaments, and medalists from the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (Junior) have also been invited.

Empowering the Marginalised

The guest list places special emphasis on social inclusion. Beneficiaries rehabilitated under the
PM SMILE Scheme, tribal citizens supported through Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, and participants of the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan will witness the celebrations from Kartavya Path.

Invitations have also been extended to unorganised sector workers receiving pensions under PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, street vendors supported by PM SVANidhi, and households provided tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Culture, Service and National Pride

Artisans trained under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Khadi Vikas Yojana beneficiaries,
performers from the North Eastern states, and winners of the Veer Gatha Project will be present, highlighting India’s rich cultural and patriotic spirit.

Construction workers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), water warriors of the
National Mission for Clean Ganga, NDMA volunteers, and best-performing Anganwadi workers under Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 have also been honoured.

Global Participation and Special Arrangements

The parade will also host foreign delegates participating in the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) 2026, along with international and Indian monk delegations attending the 2nd Global Buddhist Summit 2026.

Special arrangements have been made for these guests to visit the National War Memorial,
PM Sangrahalaya, and other iconic locations in Delhi. They will also get opportunities
to interact with Union Ministers and senior officials.
