Union Minister Chairs First Meeting of 14th Hindi Salahkar Samiti

The Ministry of Law and Justice, Legislative Department, officially launched the 14th “Hindi Salahkar Samiti” with its first meeting held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The session was chaired by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Promoting Hindi in Legal Domain

Shri Meghwal emphasized the critical role of Hindi as the official language in legal processes and expressed satisfaction with the initiatives of the Official Languages Wing. The Minister highlighted the importance of simplifying legal language, ensuring clarity, and making legal communication more accessible to citizens.

Key Decisions and Focus Areas

During the meeting, important resolutions were made to enhance the publicity and propagation of Hindi within the legal field. Shri Meghwal stressed the perspective of the common citizen, focusing on “ease of doing,” simplicity in word usage, and the elimination of ambiguity in legal texts.

Parliamentary Support and Recommendations

Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Deputy Chairman of Committee of Parliament on Official Language, recommended regular meetings of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti. He further suggested simplification of Hindi terminology for citizens’ ease and proposed administrative measures to strengthen the Official Languages Wing.

Engagement of Non-Official Members

Non-official members also contributed suggestions on propagating Hindi usage in courts and legal documents. Their recommendations included enhanced awareness campaigns and workshops to facilitate adoption of Hindi across the judiciary and legal administration.
