Haryana Police detains Monu, (incorrectly?) accused of inciting communal violence in Nuh
Mohit Yadav, better known as Monu Manesar, was detained by Haryana Police on Tuesday after being accused of inciting communal violence in Nuh district. A video clip on X, posted by ANI purportedly showed plainclothesmen taking him into custody.
Mohit is also wanted in a lynching case by Rajasthan Police. He is ‘accused’ of abducting and killing two cattle traders (cow smugglers?), Junaid and his cousin Nasir, whose charred bodies were found in a burnt car in Rajasthan’s Bhiwani on February 16.
Speaking to the media, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order Mamta Singh, said that he has been arrested over an objectionable social media post.
Mohit has repeatedly denied the charges against him. He has claimed that he was not present in Nuh when the violence broke out and that he did not give any “hate speech” that could have led to the clashes.
He has now been produced before the local courts.
