Tijara Assembly: A Battle for Supremacy in Mewat’s Electoral Arena
The Tijara assembly constituency in Rajasthan’s Alwar district has captured the spotlight in the upcoming Assembly elections, with a high-stakes battle brewing between BJP’s Baba Balak Nath, also known as the ‘Yogi of Rajasthan,’ and Congress’s Imran Khan. The seat has gained further attention due to Balak Nath’s controversial statements during the election campaign.
Voter turnout in the Tijara Assembly has reached a remarkable 85.15%, surpassing the previous election by 3.13%. The contest has intensified between Balak Nath and Imran Khan, with both parties vying for the support of the electorate, particularly the Muslim community, which constitutes over 30% of the voters.
Balak Nath’s controversial statements, including his comparison of the Tijara Assembly elections to a match between India and Pakistan, have sparked resentment among the Muslim community. However, the BJP remains hopeful that Balak Nath’s Hindu identity will attract Muslim voters.
On the other hand, the Congress is banking on Prahlad Gurjar, a local candidate from Mewat, to garner the support of Muslim voters. The BSP, with Chandrapal Chaudhary as its candidate, hopes to capitalize on Chaudhary’s advocacy for the rights of Dalits and backward classes, attracting Muslim voters who may identify with similar struggles.
With the counting of votes scheduled for December 2, the anticipation is palpable as the Tijara Assembly prepares to decide its fate. The outcome of this election will not only determine the representative of the constituency but also reflect the political dynamics of the region.
