With only a few months left before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed BJP national leaders to aim to garner more than 50 per cent of the votes in the 2024 general elections.
Addressing a closed-door meeting of the party’s national office-bearers in New Delhi on Friday, PM Modi said, “We won 303 seats in 2019 and will win more seats in 2024 if we work.”
“I am confident that if we work in mission mode, we can get more than 50% votes in 2024,” he said.
PM Modi also advised top party leaders to “aggressively express views on social media” and “positively respond to the opposition’s negative propaganda with facts”.
The two-day meeting was aimed at discussing strategies for the 2024 general elections and was attended by national office-bearers, state in-charges, state presidents, state general secretaries and heads of all other divisions.
The meeting also discussed the continuation of the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide campaign launched by the Government to popularize and spread awareness about the welfare schemes of the Central Government. Party leaders have been advised to strengthen their outreach about the “good work” of the government.
The recent assembly elections in five states and the party’s nationwide programs on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, among other issues, were discussed in the meeting.
After the recent victory in the assembly elections in three states, BJP leaders said they are hopeful of a third victory at the Center in the elections to be held in May 2024.
Addressing party leaders after the election results on December 13, PM Modi said the BJP’s “hat-trick” in the assembly elections has guaranteed a third victory for them in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
