Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha Ceremony: Uncertainty over participation of opposition leaders
Less than a month is left for the consecration (consecration) of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, but uncertainty remains over the participation of opposition leaders.
Ram Mandir Trust has invited Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Sonia Gandhi, but there is no official confirmation yet on their response.
However, Congress leader Digvijay Singh had told news agency ANI a few days ago that he would attend the function. He said that this is a historic occasion and all Indians should participate in it.
Meanwhile, other opposition parties have also not decided on their leaders’ participation.
Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has said she will not attend the ceremony as she has opposed the construction of Ram Mandir.
Shiv Sena has also said that it will not take any decision on the participation of its leaders. This ceremony to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also become a political issue. BJP has urged opposition leaders to attend the function, but opposition parties have made it a political issue.
The Ram Mandir Trust has extended invitations to both Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Sonia Gandhi. However, their official response remains elusive. Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijay Singh has expressed his intention to attend, calling it a “historic occasion that transcends political divides.”
Moving forward, the Ram Mandir Trust can potentially influence opposition participation by:
- Engaging in personal outreach: Engaging in direct dialogue with opposition leaders could clarify concerns and address potential reservations.
- Emphasizing the ceremony’s religious and cultural significance: Framing the event as a spiritual celebration rather than a political spectacle might encourage broader participation.
- Avoiding political preconditions: Abstaining from imposing any political demands on attending leaders could foster a more inclusive atmosphere.
