Winter vacations have been reduced in Delhi schools, now only till January 6
The period of winter vacation has been reduced in Delhi schools. Now schools will remain closed from January 1 to January 6 only. Earlier this period was from January 1 to January 15.
Delhi government issued an advisory in this regard on Wednesday. The advisory states that the decision to reduce winter vacation in schools has been taken to reduce the pollution level.
The level of pollution in Delhi has been very high for the last few days. This was also affecting the education of children in schools. Therefore the government decided to close the schools under winter vacation.
However, the government has also said that if the pollution levels come down, a decision can be taken to open schools early.

This is much less than in other years. Earlier, the winter holidays for children of primary schools were from 25 December to 15 January, while the holidays for children of upper classes were from 1 to 15 January.

Therefore, the Delhi government decided to close the schools from November 9 to November 19 as part of the winter holidays. During this period, children were advised to stay home to protect themselves from pollution.
To ensure that the syllabus of children is not affected, the winter holidays in January have been cut short. Now schools will remain closed from 1st to 6th January only.
