Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has clarified that he has not shared the video of TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee imitating Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The incident has sparked outrage among BJP workers and leaders have condemned Banerjee’s actions, calling them humiliating and indecent.
On Tuesday, Banerjee was seen imitating Dhankhar’s gait while other MPs, including Gandhi, laughed. The video of the incident quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP. Dhankhar himself said that he was “deeply hurt” by the incident and that it was an “insult to the highest office of the Rajya Sabha”.
Gandhiji’s response
However, Gandhi has said that he did not share the video and it was only on his phone for personal reference. He said the media was focusing on this small incident while ignoring more important issues like the suspension of 141 MPs from Parliament and the alleged corruption scams involving the Adani Group and the Rafale fighter aircraft deal.
