Karanpur by-election: Voting on January 5, results on January 8
After the declaration of the election results of 199 seats under Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023, the election dates for the remaining Karanpur Assembly seats have been announced. The Election Commission released the schedule for Karanpur by-election on Tuesday.
According to this, voting will be held in Karanpur on January 5. The results will be declared after the counting of votes on January 8. Notification for the elections will be released on December 12 and the process of filing nominations will begin on December 19. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on December 20 and time to withdraw nominations will be given till December 22.

Date of issue of Gazette Notification: After the Election Commission announces the election, this notification is issued. It includes important information like election date, last date of nomination, date of voting, and date of counting of votes.
Last date for nomination: By this date, candidates must file their nomination for the election. The nomination papers should be submitted to the office of the Election Commission.
Scrutiny of nominations: Nomination papers are scrutinized by the Election Commission. If any nomination form is found incomplete or incorrect, it may be rejected.
Last date for withdrawal of candidature: Till this date, candidates can withdraw their candidature. To withdraw the candidature, the candidate must submit a written application to the Election Commission.
Polling Date: On this date, voters go to polling stations and cast their votes.
Counting Date: On this date, the votes are counted and the results of the election are declared.

Karanpur by-election postponed: After the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kunnar.
After the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kunnar of Karanpur Assembly seat, the Election Commission has postponed the by-election. Kunnar died on November 15 during treatment at Delhi AIIMS. He was an MLA from Karanpur. Kunnar was admitted to Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur after a brain attack. He was referred to Delhi AIIMS, where he died. The Election Commission has not yet announced the new dates for the by-elections.
