Tejashwi Yadav condemned Dayanidhi Maran’s comment, saying- “Such statements should be avoided”
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav strongly condemned the statement reportedly made by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Dayanidhi Maran on December 24.

In a video, which DMK sources claimed was old, Mr Maran reportedly said Hindi speakers coming to Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar used to do odd jobs like construction work and cleaning drains.
Mr Yadav said the DMK led by the late M. Karunanidhi believed in social justice, and it was highly objectionable if any party leader had made such comments. He stressed that RJD does not support such statements, and it was a demand of the workers of Bihar and UP across the country.
“If they don’t go there to work, things will come to a standstill,” Mr Yadav said.
He said, “Whatever he has said is very wrong about the people of Bihar and UP and I strongly condemn such comments. No leader should issue such statements which will harm the people of any state. There should be disrespect. People should keep in mind that this is one country and anyone can go anywhere and work, so we all should respect each other.”
Mr Yadav said, “If they say that only people of a particular caste are cleaning drains, then that is a different matter – why are people from some community engaged in cleaning drains? But, if they say If people of Bihar and UP clean our drains and other things, I condemn it. Such statements should be avoided. This country is one country and people should be respected. Such things should not happen.”
DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is known to have friendly relations with RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family. However, Mr Yadav’s comments may impact relations between the two parties.
