Many leaders including youth leader Madhusudan Sharma of Bargarh district have left BJD and Congress and joined the BJP. State BJP President Manmohan Samal welcomed him and said that the next government in Odisha will be formed by BJP.
These include former Youth Student Congress president of Koraput district Ravindra Mahapatra, senior doctor Basant Kumar Das of Ganjam district and former BJD president of Sambalpur district Aamir Rath.
Sharma said that he decided to join BJP because he feels that BJP is the better option for the development of the country and the state. He said that he wants to serve the people of Odisha by staying in BJP.
BJP’s Odisha in-charge Sameer Mohanty has described Sharma’s joining BJP as a big achievement. He said that Sharma’s joining BJP will strengthen the party in Odisha.

Due to this step of the BJP
This shock by BJD has created a stir in the politics of Odisha. It is believed that in the coming days, more big faces from BJD may join BJP.
Elections are to be held on 14 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha in 2024. BJD will try to win all these seats. However, Sharma joining BJP may make it difficult for BJD to win the elections.
