Bet of victory on tribal votes
BJP is trying its best to win 47 tribal seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For this, the party has started many schemes for the tribals and is making continuous efforts to extend the benefits of these schemes to the tribals.
BJP’s tribal schemes
- PM Jan Man Yojana: Under this scheme, nine major ministries have worked among the tribals by setting up camps in 100 tribal-dominated districts of the country. Under this, Aadhaar cards were made for all the tribals, Jan Dhan accounts were opened, benefits of Ayushman Yojana and Ujjwala Yojana were provided, Kisan Credit Cards were made and eligible farmers were provided the benefits of the Prime Minister’s Financial Assistance Scheme.
- PM Mission for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PBTG) Development Mission: Under this scheme, a budget of Rs 15,000 crore has been allocated for 2023-2026. Under this scheme, basic facilities will be developed for PBTG groups.
- Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Tribes: A fund of PORS 100 crore has been created under this scheme. This fund will be used to provide financial assistance to tribal entrepreneurs.
Importance of tribal votes in Jharkhand and Gujarat
There is a large population of tribals in Jharkhand and Gujarat. The tribal population in Jharkhand is 26.2%, while in Gujarat it is 14.3%. There are a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats in these two states, out of which 8 are in Jharkhand and 6 in Gujarat.
BJP had won 10 of these seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The party is making efforts to maintain its victory in these seats.

The importance of tribal votes is increasing for the BJP. The tribal population constitutes about 8% of the total population of the country. BJP will have to make special efforts to win these votes in the 2024 elections.
