In Madhya Pradesh The ‘India’ alliance has decided to come together to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, there is a dispute going on regarding seat sharing between the three parties involved in the alliance.
TMC wants 29 seats in West Bengal, while Congress wants 15 seats. CPI(M) also wants some seats. No agreement is being reached between these three parties regarding seat sharing.
TMC chief Mamata Banerjee recently said in a meeting that TMC should be given more seats in West Bengal. He said that TMC had single-handedly defeated BJP in the 2021 assembly elections. Therefore, TMC should get more seats in West Bengal.
This comment of Mamta Banerjee has increased the concern of Congress. Congress fears that if TMC gets more seats, the importance of Congress in the alliance will reduce.
Congress has denied TMC’s allegations. Congress has said that TMC had also cooperated with Congress in defeating BJP in the 2021 assembly elections. Therefore, both parties should get seats equally.
There is still no agreement regarding seat sharing in the ‘India’ alliance. If no agreement is reached soon, it could cause damage to the alliance.
