The Election Commission has suspended an IAS officer on charges of electoral misconduct. The allegation against the officer is that he had misused government resources in an election.
The Andhra Pradesh government, The commission issued a suspension order against the accused officer and said it would investigate the matter and take further action.
It is alleged that the officer had used government vehicles for his political activities during an election. He had also forced government employees to join his election campaign.
The Commission has expressed serious concern in this matter. The Commission has said that it takes cases of electoral malpractice seriously and takes strict action in such cases.
The Commission has directed all election officials to take strict steps to prevent electoral malpractices.
The Election Commission had ordered a probe into BJP’s complaint that over 35,000 fake electoral photo identity cards were provided to people to impersonate them as genuine voters during the Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election on April 17, 2021.
The investigation found that more than 35,000 fake EPICs were downloaded using Girisha’s login ID and password. These EPIC photographs were tampered with and used during voting.
On this basis, the Election Commission has suspended Girisha.
