Due to dense fog in Delhi, there was widespread disruption on Monday. Ten flights were diverted to Jaipur, Indore, and other cities, while over 100 flights were either turned back or cancelled.
Dense fog blanketed Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Monday, causing significant disruptions to flight operations. Over 100 flights were delayed or cancelled, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated.
The low visibility conditions, caused by factors such as high humidity and a lack of wind, made it unsafe for planes to land or take off. The fog began rolling in early in the morning and persisted throughout the day, with visibility dropping as low as 50 meters at times.
A total of 1,120 flights were operated at Delhi airport from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, of which 100 flights were delayed or cancelled. Dense fog made it difficult for planes to land and take off.
IndiGo stated that low visibility and dense fog conditions had a widespread impact on its flight operations on Sunday. The airline added that its staff informed passengers about delays and cancellations and made every possible effort to assist them.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) managed 1,120 flights at Delhi airport from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, with 100 flights either missed or cancelled before take-off due to the fog.
A hotel mentioned that the dense fog made both landing and taking off difficult. The fog reduced visibility, causing delays for pilots during landing and take-off.
The hotel has urged passengers to check their flight status and arrive at the airport on time.
