New Delhi: On January 17, 2024, the Indian Navy destroyer INS Visakhapatnam received a distress call from MV Genco Picardy, a merchant vessel in the Gulf of Aden. The ship caught fire after a drone attack.
INS Visakhapatnam immediately reached the spot and started working to save the ship. Indian Navy personnel helped extinguish the fire on board the ship and evacuate the crew members to safety.
Indian Navy destroyer Ishiya Visakhanam responded to the distress call and assisted the anti-piracy vessel in the Gulf of Aden. Indian Navy commandos helped the ships evacuate the burning vessels and crew members to safety.
All crew members are safe and the ship is now sailing to its next port. All crew members are safe and the ship is now proceeding towards its next port visit.
