Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and veteran Congress leader Sachin Pilot spoke to journalists in Udaipur late on Friday evening. During this, he expressed his views on many issues including the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi’s Nyaya Yatra, Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav, and Congress’s defeat in the Assembly.
Priority to merit and youth in ticket distribution
Regarding ticket distribution in the Lok Sabha elections, Pilot said that ticket distribution should be based on merit and hard work of the workers instead of caste, religion or region. He said that youth should also be given priority in ticket distribution. He said that the youth have new ideas and energy, which can strengthen the party.
Rahul Gandhi’s justice journey
On Rahul Gandhi’s Nyaya Yatra, Pilot said that this Yatra is for those who are not being heard in the society, the exploited class and those who are feeling oppressed. He said that efforts are being made to provide him justice through this yatra. Pilot said that this is not the need of the Congress Party but the need of the country. He said that an environment has been created in the last 10 years, and work has been done to hollow out the agencies. He said that looking at the figures, 96 per cent of the raids conducted by agencies have been conducted on the opposition only.
defeat in assembly elections
On Congress’s defeat in the assembly elections, Pilot said that we tried hard to break the 30-year tradition, which has been going on for the last five years, but it could not happen. He said that he was sorry but our vote percentage did not decrease. He said that by-elections were held after the elections. In this, breaking all decorum and imposing a code of conduct in the ongoing elections, where a master cannot be transferred, the BJP candidate was sworn in as a minister. But the public made us win. He said that in three weeks the public is showing the mirror. No one should think that the public will always be with us.
Preparation for Lok Sabha elections
On preparations for Lok Sabha elections, Pilot said that our preparations are going on. He said that two or three meetings have been held, a selection committee, a coordination committee, and discussions have been held with all the leaders. He said that feedback is being taken from different Lok Sabha constituencies. He said that AICC has also said that we should decide the names of our Lok Sabha candidates before time so that we get time for the election campaign. He said that this election is a do-or-die election. India Alliance is completely strong. He said that Congress is the only party that can give competition to BJP but we will fight the battle for Lok Sabha with the parties of the states.
on Ram mandir
At Ram mandir, the pilot said I don’t want an invitation, I will go when I feel like it. He said that it is wrong to look at it from a political perspective. He said that whom you worship, when you fast, when you go to the mandir when you have darshan, this is a feeling of reverence for the man and his family. He said that Ramlala resides in every particle. Even the universe is incomplete without Ram.
