- Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday declared Ruhi Tangung as its candidate for the Arunachal Pradesh West Lok Sabha seat. Tangung is the President of Arunachal Pradesh State Janata Dal (United).
A party statement said, “Janata Dal (United) has decided that Ruhi Tangung, President of Arunachal Pradesh State Janata Dal (United) 1. Janata Dal (United) candidate from Arunachal West PC (Parliamentary Constituency) “For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024.”
The statement further said, “Janata Dal (United) will also contest the assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held simultaneously with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This announcement is being made as per the instructions of party president Nitish Kumar.”
The announcement signals the party’s expansion plans in Arunachal Pradesh under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. There is currently a BJP government in Arunachal Pradesh, but JDU is also trying to establish its presence here.
Another important aspect of this announcement is that it signals the move forward in the seat-sharing process within the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc. I.N.D.I.A. The block includes Congress, JDU, TRS, Shiv Sena and others.
Nitish Kumar, who took charge of the party last week, also hinted to allies of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) block that the seat-sharing process should begin. A few days ago, there were reports that Congress may consider making Nitish Kumar the coordinator of the alliance, which is a long-standing demand of his party Janata Dal (United).
This announcement is an important step for the Janata Dal (United) under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. This could help the party strengthen its base in Arunachal Pradesh.
Furthermore, the announcement may help in taking forward the seat-sharing process within the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc.
