The ruling alliance did not get a majority in the 2024 assembly elections in Bihar. After the elections, talks were going on between the three parties involved in the alliance to form the government.
However, in recent times there were reports of cracks in the alliance. On Thursday, Nitish Kumar met top BJP leaders in Delhi. After this meeting, it is believed that Nitish Kumar has again agreed to form the government with BJP.
On Friday, BJP state president Samrat Chaudhary said that the BJP will support the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar.
After this decision, Nitish Kumar met the Governor of Bihar and staked his claim to form the government. The Governor has approved Nitish Kumar to form the government.
It is believed that Sushil Modi will again be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Sushil Modi was the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar from 2014 to 2020.
The formation of the Nitish Kumar-led government is an important turning point in the politics of Bihar. This is the first time that someone has become the Chief Minister in Bihar for more than two terms.
- RJD has 79 MLAs in the Bihar Assembly.
- After that BJP has 78 MLAs.
- JD(U) has 45 MLAs.
- Congress has 19 MLAs.
- In this way, BJP and JD(U) can form government together.
Nitish Kumar’s comeback can be seen in many ways. On one hand, this could be a win-win situation. For the BJP, this will provide them an opportunity to increase their influence in Bihar. For JD(U), this will provide them an opportunity to form the government, which they could not do alone.
On the other hand, this could also be an alarm bell. The alliance between BJP and JD(U) has already been unstable. This time, it could be even more volatile, as both parties may not be willing to share power.
