Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a rally in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh on January 26. In this rally, he will launch development projects worth more than ₹19,100 crore. These projects include a medical college named after former CM Kalyan Singh, and a 173-km double-line electrified section between New Khurja and New Rewari on a dedicated freight corridor.
This rally is taking place three days after the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Therefore, the Prime Minister is expected to rely on a combination of Aastha (belief) and Vikas (development) in this rally.
BJP will use this rally to promote the party’s 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign. The BJP had won eight of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in this part of western Uttar Pradesh and is now looking to regain the remaining seats that it lost to the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party (SP-BSP) alliance.
Opposition Samajwadi Party and Congress have also focused on West UP. Both parties are trying to garner the support of Muslims, Jats and Dalits to challenge the BJP.
Congress’s U.P. Jodo Yatra covered most of the districts of the western region from Saharanpur to Shahjahanpur. Rahul Gandhi will also pass through West UP. When his Congress Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra enters Uttar Pradesh next month.
Similarly, the PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) Yatra launched by the Samajwadi Party on January 17 is passing through Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Moradabad and Bareilly districts.
