Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated “Shri Ram Janaki” Medical College and Hospital at Sarairanjan in Samastipur district, a day before the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 21, 2024.
Built for Rs 591 crore, this medical college has a 500-bed state-of-the-art hospital, conforming to ISO 14001 standards. The hospital has modern facilities like an ICU, Labor Room, Blood Bank, Ultrasound Examination Centre, X-ray examination Center and Pathology Examination Centre.
Every year 100 students will be admitted to the MBBS course in this medical college. Residential accommodation has been provided within the campus for the college principal, hospital superintendent, doctors, para-medical staff and students. Apart from this, a ‘Dharamshala’ has also been set up for the relatives of the patients.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in the inauguration ceremony that this medical college is a big gift for the people of Samastipur. He said that this college will provide an opportunity for the youth of Samastipur to get high-quality medical education. He said that the government is committed to improving health services in the state.
He said the hospital has been named ‘Shri Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital’ as the land for the institute was donated by the Shri Ram Janaki Math. He said that the Central Government has also helped in the establishment of this hospital.
He also assured that necessary steps will be taken to upgrade the institute to a 1,000-bed hospital as well as increase the number of students in the MBBS course.
After the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister also addressed a public meeting on the premises of the new institute. Addressing the gathering, he said that all types of treatment facilities will be available in this beautiful hospital. He said that now people in this area will not have to go to other places for treatment.
The public meeting was also addressed by Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
