West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday addressed TMC MP Derek O’Brien as a ‘foreigner’. Chaudhary had said that O’Brien should expel the ‘foreigner’ from TMC.
This statement of Chaudhary was strongly criticized by Congress leader Sushmita Dev on Friday. Dev said that Chaudhary’s statement is against the culture and unity of the country. He said that Chaudhary should apologize for his statement.
Dev said, “Adhir Ranjan Choudhary’s statement is against the culture and unity of the country. The kind of comments he is making are against Indian culture and values.”
He said, “He has said that anyone who speaks English is a foreigner. This statement is very objectionable. It can also harm the unity and integrity of the country.”
Dev said that Chaudhary should apologize for his statement and seek forgiveness from the people of the country.
The dispute between Choudhary and O’Brien is the result of a political rivalry. Both the leaders are contesting elections for Congress and TMC in West Bengal. Chaudhary is considered a major threat to TMC.
Chaudhary’s statement has been considered objectionable by many people. Some people say that this statement is against the unity and integrity of the country. Others say that this statement is against Indian culture.
Sushmita Dev’s comment on Chaudhary’s statement is important because it shows that Congress is far from this statement. Dev said that Chaudhary’s statement is against the culture and unity of the country. He said that Chaudhary should apologize for his statement.
It remains to be seen whether Chaudhary will apologize for his statement or not. If he does not apologise, it may cause a loss to Congress.
