Indore Reigns Supreme Again, Surat Shines as New Joint Winner in India’s Cleanliness Contest!
The highly anticipated results of the Swachh Survekshan 2023 are out, and it’s a tale of two cities basking in the glory of cleanliness! For the seventh consecutive year, Indore has bagged the coveted title of India’s Cleanest City, solidifying its reign as the undisputed champion of sanitation and hygiene.
But this year, Indore isn’t alone on the winner’s podium. Joining it in a historic first is the vibrant city of Surat, which has impressively climbed the ranks to claim the joint winner’s title. 4,209 cities participated in the cleanliness survey. These cities were ranked based on cleanliness, public toilets, solid waste management, drinking water availability, cleanliness of public places etc.
Indore scored 4,709.40 points this year, which is the highest. After this Surat scored 4,695.30 points. Navi Mumbai stood in third position, scoring 4,656.60 points.
Navi Mumbai, a perennial contender, continues to impress, securing the third position for the second year in a row. This consistency demonstrates the city’s dedication to maintaining its high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
