On February 27th, 2024, a vibrant and inclusive delegation of young Bangladeshi citizens, representing various regions and backgrounds, had the honour of meeting with India’s President, Draupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu’s warm welcome and insightful dialogue with the delegation highlighted the significance of youth engagement in fostering deeper ties between the two nations.
President Murmu acknowledged the delegation’s composition, specifically praising its inclusivity. With over half being women and hailing from diverse backgrounds across Bangladesh, the group served as a microcosm of the nation itself. She emphasized that their visit transcended mere tourism, representing a symbolic bridge connecting the two countries. This bridge further strengthens the long-standing foundation of friendship and collaboration that defines the India-Bangladesh relationship.
The President delved into the unique bond shared by India and Bangladesh, emphasizing the deep historical, cultural, and emotional connections that bind them. She expressed India’s pride in supporting Bangladesh during its Liberation War and its continued commitment as a partner in their development journey.
