New Delhi, February 23, 2024: The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) hosted a knowledge-packed workshop today, empowering its Science Media Communication Cell (SMCC) with cutting-edge strategies to bridge the gap between science and the public. Renowned experts from diverse communication backgrounds exchanged insights, equipping the SMCC with an arsenal of techniques to captivate audiences and foster greater engagement with science and technology (S&T).
The workshop delved into the power of traditional and modern communication channels. Dr. Dipendra Mazumder, a renowned expert from the National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia, shed light on the enduring reach of radio, highlighting All India Radio’s successful science communication initiatives. Ms. Rakhee Bakshee, a communication advisor with the Indian Institute of Public Administration, emphasized the growing influence of short-form video content like reels, urging participants to harness its potential for engaging, impactful storytelling.
Dr. B.K. Tyagi, a celebrated science communicator, championed the use of traditional folk media. He showcased how familiar cultural expressions can serve as powerful bridges, connecting communities with scientific concepts in a relatable and engaging manner.
