The Indian government is taking a significant step towards improving traffic flow and regional connectivity in Uttar Pradesh with the construction of the Jaunpur Bypass (Package-1). This ambitious project, spearheaded by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, involves the development of a 29-kilometer, four-lane highway on the Jaunpur-Akbarpur section of National Highway 135A. Sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1894.76 crore, the Jaunpur Bypass promises to unlock numerous benefits for the region:
The project’s primary objective is to alleviate the chronic traffic congestion plaguing Jaunpur city. The bypass will serve as a dedicated alternative route, efficiently diverting traffic away from densely populated areas and offering a smoother, faster passage for both local commuters and long-distance travellers.
As a greenfield project, the Jaunpur Bypass will establish crucial connections to National Highways 128A, 731, and 31, which intersect the project area. This enhanced network will act as a vital economic artery, fostering better accessibility for businesses and individuals, and ultimately promoting regional economic activity and integration.
The project prioritizes creating a safe and efficient transportation corridor. The four-lane highway, designed with modern engineering principles, will facilitate smoother traffic flow, significantly reduce travel times for commuters and freight movement, and contribute to a safer driving experience for all users.
A major highlight of the project is the construction of a new bridge over the mighty Ganga River. This strategic infrastructure development will significantly improve regional connectivity, both within Uttar Pradesh and with neighbouring states. The improved connections will pave the way for enhanced economic development, streamlined movement of goods and people, and ultimately, bolstering the overall growth potential of the entire region.
