On March 26, amidst discussions between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP regarding their alliance for the parliamentary polls, the BJP announced its decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections independently in Punjab.
This declaration followed feedback from people and party workers, highlighting the BJP’s determination to go solo in Punjab. Sunil Jakhar, the state BJP unit chief, affirmed this decision, emphasizing the BJP’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Notably, polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab is scheduled for June 1, marking the conclusion of the seven-phase elections.
“The BJP will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab,” stated Jakhar. He underscored the BJP’s commitment to Punjab’s development and welfare, guiding this strategic decision.
Furthermore, Jakhar emphasized the BJP’s successful efforts in ensuring minimum support prices for farmers over the past decade. This decision reflects the BJP’s confidence in its agenda and its readiness to engage with voters directly in Punjab.
