India has successfully auctioned another coking coal mine, adding to its efforts to reduce dependence on imports. This partially explored mine, named Lamatola, is located in Madhya Pradesh and boasts an estimated geological reserve of 200 million tonnes.
The auction took place on the third day of the ongoing commercial coal mine auctions (rounds 8 and 9). This latest acquisition brings the total number of coking coal mines secured through this auction process to four. Once operational, these mines are expected to play a significant role in lessening India’s reliance on foreign coking coal sources.
