Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been appointed to spearhead the BJP’s manifesto committee for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, slated to commence in a few weeks. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will serve as the convenor of the committee, with Union Minister Piyush Goyal as the co-convenor. Additionally, the committee will comprise 24 members, including prominent figures such as Arjun Munda, Bhupendra Yadav, Arjunram Meghwal, Kiren Rijiju, Ashwini Vaishnav, and Dharmendra Pradhan, among others.
Earlier, on March 28, the BJP named election in-charges and co-incharges for various states and Union Territories. Captain Abhimanyu was appointed as in-charge for Assam, Nitin Nabin for Chhattisgarh, and OP Dhankhad for Delhi, among others.
The Lok Sabha elections, spanning seven phases, will kick off on April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. Over 97 crore eligible voters, comprising 49.7 crore males and 47.1 crore females, are set to participate in the polling process across 10.5 lakh polling booths spread over 44 days. Subsequent phases will follow on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
