The National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) 2024 culminated today in the Central Hall of Parliament, marking the culmination of a week-long event that witnessed passionate speeches and insightful discussions from both young participants and esteemed dignitaries.
The grand finale saw Yatin Bhaskar Duggal from Haryana emerge victorious, clinching the first prize. Vaishna Pitchai from Tamil Nadu and Kanishka Sharma from Rajasthan secured the second and third positions respectively, showcasing the breadth of talent and diverse perspectives present among the youth.
The event was graced by the presence of prominent figures who addressed the gathering and motivated the young minds. Speaker, Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, emphasized the critical role that the youth will play in steering India towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed nation) by 2047. He underscored the historical significance of the Central Hall, where the Indian Constitution was drafted, and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering belief in the potential of the young generation.
Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, commended the participants for their unwavering spirit, stating that their “determined voice” exemplifies the unwavering resolve of the nation. He outlined the significant progress India has made in recent years, transforming from a nation once regarded as part of the ‘fragile five’ economies to a leading player on the global stage. He urged young minds to leverage the power of social media platforms like YouTube to reach out to a wider audience and communicate government initiatives in their local languages.
Thakur further emphasized the significance of “team-led leadership” and building strong networks, underscoring that the connections forged during the NYPF would prove invaluable in their future endeavours.
The NYPF serves as a crucial platform organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to foster the values of democracy, active citizenship, and leadership qualities among the young generation. This year’s edition, held under the theme “Young Voices: Engage and Empower for Nation’s Transformation,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from across 785 districts in India, providing a unique opportunity for young minds to engage in constructive dialogue, exchange ideas, and contribute meaningfully towards shaping a brighter future for the nation.
