Significant Investment to Increase Student Capacity
The Ministry of Minority Affairs has announced a major investment in the North-Eastern Himalayan University (NEHU). This ₹92.34 crore allocation aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed and prosperous India (“Viksit Bharat-Samridh Bharat”).
New Facilities to Benefit Students
The funds will be used to construct four new hostels and a modern auditorium. This expansion will allow NEHU to accommodate more students, particularly those from remote areas of the Northeast. This is expected to directly benefit over 1200 students, the majority of whom belong to minority communities.

NEHU plays a vital role in the intellectual, academic, and cultural development of the Northeast. The Ministry of Minority Affairs’ initiative demonstrates its commitment to expanding educational opportunities and empowering marginalized communities. This investment contributes to India’s vision for 2047 (Vision 2047).
