New Delhi: On March 15, 2024, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the newly-constructed Headquarters of the Indian Navy, known as ‘Nausena Bhawan’, located at Delhi Cantt. This inauguration marks a monumental occasion for the Indian Navy as it establishes its inaugural independent headquarters in the heart of Delhi.
Previously, the Indian Navy operated from 13 different locations, necessitating the creation of a consolidated and purpose-built facility like Nausena Bhawan. The architectural design of Nausena Bhawan was meticulously chosen through a nationwide competition, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal. With three wings spread across four stories, the building incorporates cutting-edge construction technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
The commitment to energy and water conservation is evident in the complex, with the integration of solar generation systems and advanced building materials. The Hybrid Reinforced Cement Concrete Construction system enables rapid construction of large spans, while the building’s design emphasizes harmony with natural elements through landscaped gardens and internal courtyards.
Internally, Nausena Bhawan offers a comfortable and congenial atmosphere facilitated by a state-of-the-art Central Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning system utilizing Advanced Oxidation Plasma technology. Furthermore, the complex is outfitted with a sophisticated Integrated Building Management System, ensuring streamlined coordination and monitoring of security services and utility systems.
Having achieved a Green Rating IV under the Integrated Habitability Assessment, the building underscores its dedication to sustainable practices. Additionally, the complex incorporates a robust three-tier security system, featuring cutting-edge technologies such as Automatic Underbelly scanning of vehicles, Power fence, Face Recognition Cameras, Bollards, Vehicle Stoppers, Access Control, and Security Cameras.
Aligned with contemporary office standards, Nausena Bhawan is equipped with extensive IT infrastructure supported by UPS systems, fostering a paperless work environment and meeting the Navy’s stringent network requirements. The inauguration signifies a significant leap forward for the Indian Navy, providing a centralized and technologically advanced headquarters that embodies the nation’s commitment to maritime excellence and national security.
