Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, swiftly responded to remarks made by BRS working president KT Rama Rao regarding potential phone tapping during the previous BRS government’s tenure. Reddy issued a stern warning, asserting that anyone found involved in the alleged tapping under the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration would face legal consequences, including imprisonment.
The exchanges between Rao and Reddy occurred amidst ongoing arrests related to the purported tapping incidents. Reddy criticized Rao’s stance, emphasizing that the act of phone tapping instilled fear among the electorate during the previous regime. He categorically stated that those responsible would face incarceration, citing instances where officials involved in such activities are already in jail.
Reiterating his stance against those aiding unlawful activities, Reddy vowed that anyone associating with wrongdoers would meet the same fate. He condemned Rao’s statements, likening them to reckless behaviour, and assured that justice would prevail as investigations continue.
Rao, earlier, had downplayed the significance of the tapping, suggesting that it might have targeted individuals involved in illicit activities. He dismissed the issue as exaggerated and attributed it to political diversion orchestrated by the Congress government to deflect attention from their unfulfilled promises made during the recent assembly elections.
The verbal sparring underscores the escalating tensions between the political factions, with each side accusing the other of wrongdoing and attempting to sway public opinion in their favour.
