Shiv Sena (UBT) has unveiled its lineup of candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, with Sanjay Raut, a prominent leader, announcing a list comprising 17 contenders. Notably, Anil Desai has secured a significant position by winning the Mumbai South Central seat.
Under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray, the party is poised to contest in a total of 22 constituencies, with the announcement of the remaining five nominations expected shortly. In a notable development, Raju Shetti, a prominent figure in Hatkanangale, has sought support from the Maha Vikas Aghadi, particularly concerning agricultural issues.
Earlier, party chief Uddhav Thackeray had revealed eleven candidates during his recent visits to various Lok Sabha constituencies. Furthermore, all five incumbent MPs have been renominated, with familiar figures like Arvind Sawant, Sanjay Patil, and Amol Kirtikar securing their candidacies in Mumbai.
The nomination of wrestler Chandrahar Patil for the Sangli seat, previously contested for by the Congress, adds an intriguing dynamic to the electoral scenario.
With Maharashtra gearing up for polls across its 48 Lok Sabha seats, beginning on April 19 in five phases, attention is focused on various constituencies, including Kalyan, where the successor to incumbent MP Shrikant Shinde remains undisclosed.
