In his address to members of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the importance of empowering women as an investment in both present and future societal well-being. He underscored gender equality and women-led development as essential principles for fostering a fair and progressive society.
Acknowledging recent affirmative initiatives such as the permanent commission for women in the Armed Forces and the admission of girls in Sainik Schools, the Vice-President commended the existing gender-neutral ecosystem. He also celebrated the passage of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ in parliament, citing it as a significant milestone for gender equality and women’s empowerment. Dhankhar suggested that increased female representation in legislative bodies could contribute to shifting societal attitudes.
Dispelling stereotypes and recognizing women’s leadership, especially in fields like science, Vice-President Dhankhar emphasized the ongoing reclamation of women’s rightful place in society, free from traditional gender roles.
Moreover, he stressed the integral connection between gender justice, women’s economic empowerment, and sustainable development, noting that women’s participation in the workforce drives economic growth. Dhankhar urged women entrepreneurs to champion local economic development, highlighting women’s natural role as ambassadors of economic nationalism.
