In the BJP’s Lok Sabha election manifesto, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to kickstart three new bullet train projects. He also outlined plans to categorize Vande Bharat trains into three distinct categories.
“BJP will expand Vande Bharat trains to every corner of the country, introducing three variants: Vande Bharat Sleeper, Vande Bharata Chair Car, and Vande Bharat Metro,” declared PM Modi in the national capital.
Additionally, PM Modi announced the initiation of three bullet train projects in North, South, and East India. “The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project is progressing rapidly and is nearing completion. Similarly, bullet trains will soon operate in North, South, and East India, with survey work set to commence shortly,” he stated.
The party’s manifesto also pledged to implement the Uniform Civil Code and advocate for ‘One Nation, One Election.’
“Article 44 of the Constitution enlists the Uniform Civil Code as one of the Directive Principles of State Policy. BJP believes that gender equality cannot be realized until India adopts a Uniform Civil Code that safeguards the rights of all women. The BJP reaffirms its commitment to crafting a Uniform Civil Code, drawing from esteemed traditions and modern values,” the manifesto affirmed.
PM Modi also extended the free ration scheme for the next five years and reiterated the commitment to granting citizenship to eligible individuals under the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Furthermore, the BJP’s manifesto highlighted the progress of bullet train projects in India, with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor slated for completion by June-July 2026. As of January 2024, the project had achieved an overall progress rate of 40 per cent and is anticipated to have a limited number of stops along its 508-km route.
