Preparations are in full swing in Ghaziabad as the city eagerly awaits Prime Minister Modi’s roadshow scheduled for April 6. Spanning approximately 800 meters along Ambedkar Road, from Maliwara to Chaudhary Morh, this event holds immense significance as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategy to clinch victories in the 13 Lok Sabha seats of western Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP has nominated sitting MLA Atul Garg as its candidate for Ghaziabad, with his candidacy being confirmed after scrutiny on Friday. With polling scheduled for April 26, Ghaziabad emerges as a crucial battleground in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a proactive approach, the BJP has kicked off its campaigning early in Ghaziabad, featuring prominent figures like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Adityanath convened an “intellectuals’ meet” in Ghaziabad on March 27, while Singh addressed a rally at Ghanta Ghar Ramlila Ground on April 3.
Modi’s impending roadshow is expected to galvanize supporters as it traverses through key areas, encompassing major markets, residential colonies, offices, and commercial establishments along Ambedkar Road. BJP officials anticipate a positive impact on the 13 seats in western Uttar Pradesh.
Simultaneously, security measures are being heightened for the roadshow, with Ghaziabad police deploying approximately 6,000 personnel for duty. Rigorous security checks will be conducted, and traffic diversions will be enforced to ensure the seamless execution of the event.
Despite the BJP’s stronghold in Ghaziabad, challenges persist, particularly regarding caste equations and the denial of tickets to certain candidates. Nevertheless, the party remains confident in its candidate’s prowess and the support garnered from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc partners.
With the stage set for Modi’s roadshow, Ghaziabad braces itself for a momentous political event that could potentially reshape the electoral landscape in western Uttar Pradesh.
