In a coordinated anti-narcotics operation conducted at sea on April 28, 2024, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in partnership with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), seized 86 kg of narcotics worth Rs 600 crore and detained 14 crew members from a Pakistani vessel.
The operation was led by the ICG ship Rajratan, which carried ATS and NCB officials on board. The team successfully identified the suspect vessel despite its attempts to evade detection. The quick response from the Rajratan, supported by a fleet of ships and aircraft on simultaneous missions, ensured the drug-laden vessel could not escape. A specialized team from the ship boarded the suspect boat and, after thorough inspections, confirmed the presence of a significant quantity of narcotics. The crew and the vessel are currently being escorted to Porbandar for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The collaboration between the ICG and ATS, which has led to eleven successful law enforcement operations over the past three years, highlights the strong synergy for achieving national goals.
