Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian downplayed the recent drone attack on Isfahan, comparing the weapons used to “children’s toys” rather than serious military drones. He stated that Iran would not retaliate against the attack unless Israel made significant moves.
Amir-Abdollahian, currently in New York for a UN Security Council session, warned that if Israel were to take decisive action against Iran, the response would be swift and severe. He noted that Iran’s military options against Israel include targeting major cities such as Haifa and Tel Aviv, but stressed that Iran aims to avoid civilian casualties.
The drone attack on Isfahan occurred amid ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel. Earlier this year, an Israeli strike on an Iranian consular building in Damascus killed two high-ranking generals and five officers from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran responded with a military attack on Israel, which was largely intercepted by Israeli air defence systems.
The Isfahan attack, reportedly targeting a military airfield, did not result in significant casualties according to Iranian media.
