The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is aiming for its third consecutive term in this general election, with the slogan ‘abki baar 400 paar’ echoing its ambition.
The second phase of voting for 88 parliamentary constituencies in 13 states and Union Territories (UTs) concluded on Friday. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the voter turnout for this phase was approximately 63.50%. The first phase of polling occurred on April 19, covering 102 seats across 21 states and UTs.
Tripura, a northeastern state, saw the highest voter turnout at 79.46%, while Uttar Pradesh recorded the lowest turnout at 54.85%.
The political parties have intensified their campaigns for the remaining constituencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a rally in Goa on Saturday, while Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed rallies in Gujarat’s Valsad and Maharashtra’s Latur.
Two major political alliances, the INDIA bloc and the NDA led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are the main competitors in the Lok Sabha Election 2024. The INDIA bloc includes parties such as Congress, AAP, and TMC, while the NDA consists of the BJP, PMK, JDU, and others.
The NDA is striving for its third consecutive term in office, aiming to secure over 400 seats. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc is prioritizing economic issues in its campaign, promising minimum support prices for farmers and cash handouts to women.
