Defence Minister Rajnath Singh responded to reports linking India to ‘targeted killings’ abroad by affirming, “If any terrorist attempts to escape to Pakistan from India, we will pursue and eliminate them within Pakistan.” He stressed India’s steadfast commitment to firmly addressing any efforts to disturb peace within its borders or emanating from neighbouring nations.
Singh reiterated India’s aspiration for harmonious relations with its neighbours, highlighting its track record of refraining from initiating aggression or territorial disputes. Nonetheless, he cautioned that India would not tolerate repeated targeting and would respond accordingly.
His remarks followed a Guardian report alleging India’s involvement in targeted killings in Pakistan. The report, sourced from intelligence and documents, alleged nearly 20 such incidents since 2020, purportedly orchestrated by Indian sleeper cells, primarily operating from the UAE.
These accusations build upon earlier claims by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the United States regarding India’s role in the killings of Khalistani separatists. While not the first to implicate India, the Guardian report purportedly offers the most comprehensive evidence yet of RAW’s direct involvement in these operations.
