Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded to opposition criticism regarding the prospect of a third term in office by affirming that his government’s accomplishments over the past decade are just the initial steps.
Addressing a sizable gathering in Maharashtra’s Ramtek, PM Modi likened the progress achieved during his tenure to an appetizer, indicating that the “main course” of development is yet to be served.
“I give you a guarantee – ‘Har pal desh ke naam, har pal aap ke naam’ (every moment for the country, every moment for the public); 24 x7 for 2047,” he reassured the audience.
PM Modi also dismissed opposition claims regarding threats to democracy and the Constitution, drawing parallels with historical events.
“They used to do the same even when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in power. This suggests they lack new ideas. Wasn’t democracy endangered during the Emergency?” he queried.
Expressing delight over the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, PM Modi underscored the significance of the event during the Ram Navami celebrations, highlighting the transition from Ram Lalla being housed in a tent to residing in the grand temple.
Shifting focus to political adversaries, Modi criticized the Congress party for its stance on various issues, including its opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
“Congress opposes the CAA because its primary beneficiaries are Dalits. Regardless of their protests, all CAA beneficiaries will receive citizenship, and this is guaranteed by Modi,” he asserted.
The rally aimed to garner support for NDA candidates in the region ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, scheduled in five phases from April 19 to May 20.
