The Congress declined to comment on remarks made by political strategist Prashant Kishor regarding Rahul Gandhi’s leadership during an interaction with PTI editors. Kishor suggested that the party suffers from structural flaws and proposed that Gandhi should consider stepping back if the desired results are not achieved in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He noted that Gandhi effectively runs the Congress but has been reluctant to relinquish control or allow others to lead, despite a lack of significant achievements over the past decade.
Kishor described this situation as “anti-democratic” and highlighted his previous efforts to devise a revival plan for the opposition party, which ended due to disagreements with its leadership over strategy execution.
When asked about Kishor’s remarks, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate stated, “I do not respond to comments made by consultants. Let’s focus on discussions involving political figures, rather than consultants.”
Kishor, renowned for his involvement in successful election campaigns for various political parties, emphasized that the main opposition party in the country faces “structural” flaws in its functioning and addressing these issues is crucial for its future success.
