Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party following the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) expressing its support for the UDF in Kerala. Shah accused the Congress of disregarding India’s sovereignty and backing anti-India agendas for an extended period.
During an exclusive interview with CNN-News18 during his roadshow in Ramanagara, Karnataka, Shah stated that he was not surprised by the SDPI’s backing of the Congress. He stressed that aligning with communal forces like the SDPI reflects a lack of belief in India’s sovereignty.
“The SDPI’s support for Congress implies a disregard for India’s sovereignty,” Shah asserted.
The SDPI, the political wing of the banned Popular Front of India, announced its decision to support the Congress-led UDF in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. However, the Congress has yet to provide a definitive response on whether they will accept or reject this support. AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal stated that the Congress has not sought assistance from the SDPI, and no discussions have taken place on this matter.
Shah further expressed confidence in the BJP’s performance in Karnataka, asserting they would secure all 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state. He highlighted the strong support for Prime Minister Modi in Karnataka and predicted a significant victory for BJP candidates in the elections.
“Under Modi’s leadership, India’s economy has ascended to the fifth-largest globally. If elected for a third term, Modi aims to elevate the Indian economy to the third-largest position,” Shah stated.
In response to Shah’s remarks, HD Kumaraswamy commented, “The involvement of Amit Shah in Tuesday’s campaign has given us hope that our tie-up will win 28 seats in Karnataka.”
