Union Minister Hardeep Puri responded sharply to Atishi’s claim of being approached by the BJP, stating firmly that the party “does not have any vacancy.” He dismissed any potential switch, referencing the ongoing investigation into the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy scam, suggesting that accepting Atishi into their ranks would only compound their troubles.
Highlighting the tumultuous relationship between the AAP and the BJP, particularly amidst the backdrop of the investigation, Puri’s retort underscored the BJP’s stance. He emphasized that there is no room within the BJP for someone like Atishi, categorically stating, “We do not have any vacancy for a political activist like Atishi.”
Atishi’s revelation about being courted by the BJP comes amid heightened tensions between the two parties, exacerbated by the central agencies’ probes into the liquor excise policy scandal. With key AAP figures like Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh facing legal issues, including arrests and bail, and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent custody, the political landscape remains volatile.
Atishi’s defiance in the face of potential threats from the BJP reflects the AAP’s resolute stance against perceived political manipulation. Despite the spectre of looming raids and arrests, she asserts her allegiance to Kejriwal’s cause, signalling an unwavering commitment to the party’s principles amidst the turbulent political climate.
