Rahul Gandhi and Annie Raja have disclosed their assets as they filed their nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress president, reported holdings of ₹55,000 in cash and a total income of ₹1,02,78,680 for the financial year 2022-23. Over five years, his movable assets have seen a 59% increase, now valued at ₹9.24 crore.
In contrast, Annie Raja, representing the Communist Party of India (CPI), declared total assets worth ₹72 lakh, significantly less than Gandhi’s holdings. Her disclosed assets include ₹10,000 in cash, bank deposits of ₹62,000, jewellery valued at ₹25,000, and an inherited property worth ₹71 lakh.
Additionally, Rahul Gandhi has investments in gold bonds worth ₹15.2 lakh and other financial instruments like National Savings Schemes and insurance policies totalling ₹61.52 lahks. He also has liabilities amounting to approximately ₹49.7 lakh.
Annie Raja’s nomination sets up a contest against Rahul Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party’s state president K Surendran in Wayanad. In the 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat by a substantial margin of over four lakh votes. Kerala’s 20 parliamentary constituencies will undergo polling on April 26, with the nomination filing deadline set for April 4.
