On the day of voting for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency, the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) served a show cause notice to former MP Jayant Sinha for his apparent disinterest in election campaigning and organizational responsibilities. State General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu penned a letter to Sinha, expressing concern over the negative impact his actions had on the party’s image and requested a response within two days.
Jayant Sinha was denied a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Hazaribagh, with the BJP instead fielding MLA Manish Jaiswal from the seat.
The letter, dated May 20, by Aditya Sahu reads: “Since the party declared Manish Jaiswal as its candidate from Hazaribagh, you have shown no interest in election campaigning or organizational duties. Furthermore, your failure to exercise your right to vote during this crucial democratic event has tarnished the party’s image. As per the instructions of State President Shri Babulal Marandi, we request you to provide clarification within two days.”
Interestingly, this notice follows shortly after reports that Jayant Sinha’s son, Aashir Sinha, has joined the state Congress.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand reported approximately 64.2 percent voter turnout in Hazaribagh.
