The Congress has demanded that PM Modi clarify his support for Yogi Adityanath, suggesting it is due to the UP CM’s stance on reservations. This comes after PM Modi stated that allies of the INDIA bloc should “learn from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath where to run bulldozers.”
At a press briefing held at the Gauhati Press Club, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh referenced an article on Adityanath’s website, arguing that it exposed the chief minister and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) “anti-reservation mindset.” Ramesh warned that the article might be removed soon and read excerpts that he claimed demonstrated an anti-reservation stance.
Ramesh said, “The outgoing prime minister today said that the INDIA bloc should learn from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath where to run the ‘bulldozer.’ See how Yogi’s ‘bulldozer’ is against the reservation system for Dalits, tribals, and backward classes!”
He further alleged, “The prime minister should clearly say that he is supporting Yogi because of his views on reservation. This is the secret behind his slogan of ‘400 paar.’ He aims to secure a majority of 400 seats in Parliament to amend Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution and revoke the reservation rights of Dalits, tribals, and backward classes.”
PM Modi’s Remarks
On Friday, PM Modi asserted that the Samajwadi Party and the Congress would dismantle the Ram temple in Ayodhya if they gained power. He suggested that these parties should learn from Yogi Adityanath “where to run bulldozers.”
At a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, PM Modi stated, “If SP and Congress come to power, Ram Lalla will be in a tent again and they will run a bulldozer on the Ram temple. They should take tuition from Yogi ji on where to run a bulldozer and where you shouldn’t.”
