Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda has issued a stern warning to his grandson, Prajwal Revanna, who is accused in a sexual harassment case, urging him to return to the country and surrender to the police. Gowda emphasized that if the accusations are proven true, Revanna should face the harshest punishment.
In a two-page open letter titled “My Warning To Prajwal Revanna,” the 91-year-old politician expressed his ignorance of his grandson’s alleged activities. “People have used harsh words against me and my family in the last few weeks. I do not wish to stop them or criticize them. I cannot argue that they should wait until all the facts are found. I also cannot convince people that I was unaware of Prajwal’s activities or his foreign trip. I believe in answering my conscience and trusting that God knows the truth,” Gowda wrote.
Gowda warned Prajwal, who fled the country nearly a month ago, to return if he has any respect for his grandfather. “I can only issue a stern warning to Prajwal, asking him to return from wherever he is and surrender to the police. This is not an appeal; it is a warning,” he stated.
He further cautioned that ignoring family members’ advice will lead to complete isolation. “If he does not heed this warning, he will face my anger and the anger of all his family members. The law will address the accusations against him, but disregarding the family will ensure his total isolation. If he has any respect left for me, he must return immediately,” Gowda added.
Meanwhile, the ex-PM assured that he will not attempt to influence the investigation in any way.
